Coromandel Youth Mentors (CYM) was founded and established by Georgina Parry in 2024 with full charitable trust status granted in March 2024. Coromandel Youth Mentors is based in Whitianga with a long term aim to work across the Coromandel wide.

The Coromandel Youth Mentoring program focuses on Rangatahi and young adults aged 8-20 years who may be at risk of becoming disengaged from school/community and losing direction with their life choices.

At Coromandel Youth Mentoring Program we do not discriminate and welcome all children despite sex, gender, economic status or physical disability. At CYM we aim to gain support from local industries and community groups for this program, as well as philanthropic groups who support and encourage young people to reach their full potential.

Our Values

Whanaungatanga (Connection): Foster meaningful relationships between mentors and mentees, creating a sense of belonging and support.

Whaka pakari (Empowerment): Empower young individuals to reach their full potential through guidance, encouragement, and skill development.

Manaakitanga (Hospitality/Generosity): Promote a culture of kindness and generosity, where mentors provide positive guidance and support.

Whakarongo (Listening): Cultivate active listening skills to understand the unique needs and aspirations of each mentee.

Kotahitanga (Unity): Encourage a sense of unity and collaboration among the mentor group, creating a strong and supportive community.

Arahitanga (Leadership): Instill leadership qualities in both mentors and mentees, fostering personal growth and responsibility.

Whakawhanaungatanga (Networking): Facilitate connections with the broader community, including local leaders and organisations, to enhance opportunities for the mentees.
